Terms of Service
Last updated: 12 May 2026
Dropura is a small project — these terms are a starting point; consult a lawyer for legal advice before relying on them.
Dropura lets people capture moments together. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Dropura.
1. Account Terms
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you confirm that a parent or guardian agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
- You must provide accurate, current information when registering and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for keeping your password secret and for every action taken from your account. Notify us at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access.
- One human, one account. Sharing an account with another person is not allowed.
2. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Post illegal content, content that infringes someone else's intellectual-property rights, or content depicting the sexual exploitation of minors.
- Harass, threaten, dox, or abuse other users.
- Scrape, crawl, or mine the service with automated tools, or attempt to bypass rate limits, authentication, or access controls.
- Impersonate any person or organisation, or misrepresent your affiliation with one.
- Use Dropura to send spam, run a phishing scheme, distribute malware, or do anything else unlawful.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules without prior notice.
3. Your Content
You retain ownership of the moments (photos, captions, metadata) you upload. By uploading content to Dropura you grant Dropura a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, display, transmit, and process your content solely to operate, secure, and improve the service on your behalf — including delivering it to other members of drops you have joined, generating responsive image variants, and creating recap exports you request.
This licence ends when you delete the content or your account (subject to the retention rules in our Privacy Policy and any legally required holds — for example backups in their normal rotation window).
You represent that you have the rights necessary to grant this licence and that your content does not violate the law or another person's rights.
4. Dropura's Intellectual Property
The Dropura name, logo, brand, software code, design system, and documentation are owned by Dropura and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Nothing in these Terms gives you a licence to use any of them outside of normal use of the service.
5. Service Availability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't offer an uptime SLA on the free tier. Features may change, be added, or be removed at any time. We may schedule or perform maintenance with or without notice.
We may suspend or terminate access — to a feature, a moment, a drop, or your entire account — if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, applicable law, or to protect Dropura, our users, or third parties.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- Dropura is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption arising from your use of the service.
- Dropura's total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid Dropura in the twelve (12) months before the claim arose, or USD $100, whichever is greater.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits — in that case, the limits apply to the maximum extent the law allows.
7. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Dropura and its contributors from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from (a) your use of the service, (b) your content, or (c) your violation of these Terms or any law.
8. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [Jurisdiction TBD], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be resolved exclusively in the courts located in that jurisdiction, unless local consumer-protection law gives you stronger rights.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. If we make a material change, we will give you at least 30 days' notice — by email to the address on your account, by an in-app banner, or both — before it takes effect. Continued use of the service after a change becomes effective means you accept the updated Terms.
The latest version always lives at /terms and
is kept under version control in docs/legal/terms.md
in the Dropura source tree.
